Anna Maria Canopi

Anna Maria Cànopi (born Pecorara, April 24, 1931) is a Benedictine nun. She is the founder and Mother Prioress of the Mater Ecclesiae Abbey, which is located in the San Giulio Island, Lake of Orta, Province of Novara, Italy. She is widely considered as the most prominent living female figure in the Catholic Church.
She is author of several books on Christian and monastic spirituality, and a prominent scholar in the Patristic literature. She contributed to the publication of the Italian official edition of the Bible by the Catholic Church. She also wrote the text of the Via Crucis by John Paul II in 1993.
